Fibre Plastics

fibre-plastic-thumbTTS is in the process of developing a unique line of natural fibre-plastic biocomposite products that are environmentally sustainable and exhibit excellent performance characteristics, such as durability.

While the majority of bio-plastic products are made from pure plastic, they can be reinforced with reinforcing fibres when additional strength is required. The resulting reinforced bio-plastics consist of natural fibres in a bio-plastic (bio-polymer) matrix. These products are biocomposites – two or more dissimilar biomaterials combined to make a stronger and more durable bioproduct. The bio-plastic matrix supports the reinforcing natural fibres, which impart their particular mechanical and physical properties to the finished product.

TTS’ fibre plastic products are developed using recycled milk cartons and re-processed agricultural and wood fibre as the structural reinforcing component. They can be moulded into containers, used to reinforce flooring, or custom designed to replace existing petroleum-derived plastic or fibre glass products on the market. No virgin materials are required to make these products and their tensile strength properties can out-compete many existing composite products.
